Statement from the artist: I paint landscapes and seascapes of the Pacific Northwest because I have to. I’ve tried stopping. Tried changing directions, but I cannot. Not yet, maybe. I have such gratitude for Nature’s resiliency and persistence. It inspires me to put my woes in perspective. My goal with this theme, or this homage, is not realism, but I do want the local viewer to think, “I know this place,” or, “This is home.” A successful painting for me is one that is a bit of a mess up close, but that’s also *clicks into place when the viewer takes a few steps back. I encourage you to try it now. I have shown through the area, Olympia, Seattle, Portland, and Seabrook, for more than two decades, and keep busy with shows and commission work.
